西安铁一中国际课程中心简介

学校简介

   西安铁一中创建于1929年,陕西省首批示范高中。学校以“优秀+特长”为培养目标,培育举止高雅、内涵丰富、能力突出、具有领袖气质的学生,以丰厚的文化底蕴和开阔的教育视野为学生提供优质教育。学校教育教学质量名列陕西省前茅。高考连续十年应届毕业生本科上线率100%,一本录取率始终保持在95%以上,清华、北大录取人数连续十年名列全省前茅。中考各高分数段人数始终位居全市前一、二位,连续五年6人获西安市中考第一名。科技创新教育成果丰硕,近四年参加全国科技创新大赛获奖总人数和获奖等级均居陕西第一。艺体教育独树一帜,在陕西省处于领先优势。现有交响乐团、合唱团、航模队、击剑队、魔术社等学生专业团队32个,管乐团、民乐团为西北地区首屈一指的中学生乐团,代表陕西省参加教育部组织的全国中小学艺术比赛获金奖。学校面向世界,接轨国际,于2009年开办国际班,前四届毕业生100%被美国排名前百位的大学录取,其中53%进入美国排名前五十名的大学深造,二十余人获高额奖学金。

国际课程中心

      西安铁一中国际课程中心成立于2009年。现有教师45人,其中90%的中外教师拥有硕士学位,80%的教师拥有10年以上的教学经验。不管是外教还是中方教师都秉承开放式的教育理念,鼓励学生广泛参与,独立思考,创新思维国际班现有学生238人,每个年级分别开设重点班和平行班。课程中心提供了广泛的国际课程,制定个性化的学习方案,旨在帮助学生进入一流的国外大学。这些课程不仅保留中国高中必修课程精髓,还融合国际课程优势。此外,还针对优秀学生开设海外大学先修课程(AP),不断挖掘学生的学术潜能和提高学生的学术能力。
AP课程开设有微积分、统计学、经济学、化学、物理学科等9门。

科学的考评体系全面考查能力

借鉴国外先进的学生考评体系,国际班推行立体和多维度的过程性评价。学生的最终成绩不是由一个测试决定,而是整个学习过程的记录。我们采用多样化的评价方式,包含自我检查,同学评价和教师评估相结合,并以常规测试和标准化考试相互补充。根据不同的课程,我们采用多种形式来测试学生的综合能力,如演讲、学术论文、报告、活动规划、角色扮演、等等。

Xian Tie Yi High School International Curriculum Center

School Profile 2014-2015

Xi’an Tie Yi High School, founded in 1929, is a comprehensive high school and composed of three divisions: Middle School, High School, and International Curriculum Center. Each year, more than 100 thousand students take Xi’an National High School Entrance Examination, and among them only top 3% of them have a chance to be admitted to Xi’an Tie Yi High School. In the recent 10 years, 100% of the senior students have been admitted to universities and 80% of them have gone to top 10 universities in China.

Our International Curriculum Center was established in 2009. Over 45 staff members work here, both Chinese and foreign teachers are qualified and dedicated with 90% of them possessing a Master’s degree, and 80% of teachers having more than 10 years working experience. Now there are 270 students enrolled and divided into one experimental class and two standard classes in each grade. The center offers PGA (Program of Global Access) curriculum to meet the needs of the students planning on going to overseas universities.

Introduction of PGA Curriculum

The PGA Program aims to cultivate well-rounded students with in-depth knowledge of Chinese Cultural heritage and diversified international perspectives. The PGA Program consists of the compulsory National Chinese High School courses, Global Assessment Certificate and elective courses such as Advanced Placement.

National Chinese Curriculum

In order to ensure students a comprehensive fundamental education and promote students overall development, PGA requires all national compulsory courses for its students. The Humanities courses focus on strengthening basic knowledge and expanding humanities knowledge. The science courses are based on the highly systematic and sound science education of China, providing students with a solid foundation. Students must complete all compulsory courses and required elective courses.

GAC Curriculum

The Global Assessment CertificateTM  (GAC) program is an internationally recognized university preparation program for students who do not have English as their first language. It is a product of ACT Education Solutions, Limited (a wholly owned subsidiary of ACT Inc.).

GAC provides students with the academic knowledge, independent learning skills, English language skills and confidence to enter and successfully complete a bachelors degree at university. GAC courses focus not only on improving students academic English proficiency, but also on improving student’s comprehensive capabilities, including the ability of self-study learning, communication skills, information and communication technology, data-processing ability, problem-solving ability, the ability to collaborate with other people, the ability to adapt to different societies, and moral and cultural development in an cross-cultural environment. At XATYZ-International Curriculum Center, all GAC courses are instructed in English language by native English speakers.

Advanced Placement courses are offered in Calculus, Statistics, Economics, Chemistry, Physics. (2 subjects are offered in grade 10 and 11; 3 subjects are offered in grade 12.)

A  (90-100)

Achievement superior in quality and quantity

B  (80-89)

Achievement above the average; certifying grade for college preparatory subjects

C  (70-79)

Average achievement

D  (60-69)

Lowest passing grade; indicates achievement inferior in quantity, skill and thoroughness

E  (Below 60)

Failure to meet minimum standards

Note: Grades for the second semester of 11th grade are their Hui Kao results, which are similar to the New York State Regents. The following points will be used in 7 subjects resulting in one credit:

7 subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Politics, History, Technology

A= Top 10%        B=Middle 70%        C=Last 20%

 

Grading for GAC Curriculum

Note: The grades of GAC curriculum are given on a rigorous standard by ACT Inc. which is at a higher academic level than National Chinese Curriculum. Therefore, International Curriculum Center does not do class ranking due to the different grading system described above.

GAC Assessment: Assessment in the GAC is designed to ensure that students can demonstrate competency in all of the requirements of the modules. Assessment methods are linked closely to teaching and learning strategies, and to the course outcomes.
